On Sunday at Hillside Festival I watched Rachel Sermanni play at The Island stage.
Rachel accesses that reflective part of you’re being, mixing traditional folk with a sound of Joni Mitchell, Bjork, and somehow creates a dreamy quality to her songs. She brought the old soul out in all of us, leaving us relaxed, yet pleasantly surprised, that a young woman could achieve this depth. We were a bit touch and go on if the rain would come, and Sermanni asked us if there would be fog. She then played us her song ‘The Fog’, and showed us a bit more of an edgy quality.
